Artist's Description
My tribute to the brilliant sculptors who carved in intaglio, in miniature, in metal, the dies from which the Greek city state coins were struck for many centuries. Created in plasticine, taken through a plaster waste mold to produce a master (in the days before cold-pouring rubber), then a flexible mold - finally cast in epoxy. 3.5" (9 cm) diam. Original coin (0.7" diam) was struck in Abdera, Thrace c 411-385 BC.

Your medallion work is so intriguing. The final image seems to capture the sense of the original metal. Even transcending that sense in it's luminescence. Mythology of all cultures has intrigued me since I was a little child. Thanks for bringing these characters to life in a new way.
Patricia Howitt replied:
Thank you John - I am so glad you like these - yes the mythology is as fascinating as the skills of these old masters.
