Nice! HDR??

Inge Johnsson replied:

Thanks Jon. No, I am not into HDR. I did manually blend a second darker exposure for only the clouds though.

Great setting to get this great photo!

Inge Johnsson replied:

Thanks Robert. Yes , this is close to where Havasu Canyon reaches the Colorado River. A little tough to get to. I came from the Colorado on a river raft.

Artist's Description

Havasu Creek is a side stream to the Colorado River in the interior of the Grand Canyon. .. Havasu Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Arizona associated with the Havasupai people. It is a tributary to the Colorado River, which it enters in the Grand Canyon. Havasu Creek starts out above the canyon wall as a small trickle of snow run-off and rain water. This spring can be accessed by heading upstream when the creek is first encountered. The water stays at about 70 F all year around. The creek is well known for its blue-green color and distinctive travertine formations. This is due to large amounts of calcium carbonate in the water that formed the limestone that lines the creek and reflects its color so strongly. This also gives the creek an interesting feature, as it is ever-changin...

Inge Johnsson

I have been photographing the beauty of America and many other places around the world for more than 25 years. My photographic work has won awards and has been published in several books, calendars and magazines such as Popular Photography, National Geographic, Smithsonian Magazine, and Texas Highways. Originally from Sweden, I currently reside in North Texas. I enjoy many types of photographic subjects and styles, but really love landscape, nature and travel photography. I use Canon full frame DSLRs with a full range of L-series lenses, and touch up my digital captures in Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop to recreate what I felt and saw when the capture was made, and to make the images ready for online and printed media.
