Hi Carl, it just dawned on Me, two weeks ago I sat on the beach having a beer and in the water was this rock exactly like what you painted here. I was in front of Haystack Rock and didn't even realize it. Great job you did on the fading ocean horizon line! ~pamela

Artist's Description

This Plein Air Painting was painted on the beach in Pacific City, OR, It was a slighlty foggy morning. I used soft pastels and it took me a little over an hour to produce the painting. I added the Seagulls later in the studio.

Pacific Northwest artist/teacher Carl E. Capps is an award winning Sculptor and Pastelist concentrating mainly on Landscapes and Wildlife Sculpture. Born in Idaho, Carl currently lives in Keizer, Oregon. Carl is mainly a self taught artist but has taken advantage of attending workshops and classes by artist/teachers such as Sculptor, Ron Moore, and Painters, Richard McKinley, Albert Handell, and Gil Delinger.
