On my way to art college, I rode these Cable Cars every weekday morning. They were then, and are now one of my best memories of things past. I love the sound of wheels as they squeek on the corners, the sound of the clanging bells and the feel of the wind passing by as you climb to top of Nob Hill. The young lady looking forward to an exciting ride is my granddaughter Taylor. A view forward to the top of Nob Hill can be seen in the window next to her.

I began painting as a child. My mother would give me pictures to copy, not trace. She would draw wedding cakes, high heel shoes, couples dancing and never a car or truck. She had been a commercial artist during the nineteen thirties and never stopped encouraging me in the arts. After high school I went to California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco . After art college I returned to Portland, Oregon to pursue the art of dentistry. I retired from dentistry a few years ago (I'm still practicing at the Geriatric Dental Clinic in Portland), but I hope to keep painting until I can no longer hold a brush.
