I have a weakness for Italian Giallo thrillers from the 70's, the look and style of them their music and the plot twists all join together to make an always interesting viewing experience. This inspired me to try a retro looking portrait of a Giallo bella donna ;) Lots of Ennio Morricone scores were listened to along the way for good measure. I had a very poor quality reference but it had an interesting pose with the hands close to the face and the arms together, so I used this as a starting point.
I really enjoy using tinted paper then adding highlights in white so this was another excuse to try and improve my skills.

Materials used A3 tinted pastel paper and conte pencils and some chalk and charcoal.

Inspired by nature, literature, history and the environment. Striving to bring a life like quality to my natural subjects, capturing as much of their beauty and character as possible. Currently enjoying using charcoal and pastels, these mediums allow me to be more spontaneous with ideas, also loving how quickly it can be to achieve satisfying results without compromise; while at present my most favourite medium for painting is acrylics. My subject matter are wide and varied, feeling the need to challenge myself exploring with unfamiliar themes and ideas, perhaps in time I will settle down and specialise in certain areas but for now I go where my creative muse leads me!
