Artist's Description
This was an original old fashioned stone hitching post that sits next to a modern road with curb and gutter, but once, where it stands was a dirt or gravel road, back in the late 1800's. This was taken at the residence that was built in the later 1800's and totally restored to its original grandeur, complete with gardens, and this antiquated piece of history. When you would come to visit, you would usually have a horse, or horse and buggy, and you would tie it up to this post, while visiting or delivering to this residence. Sure beats parking meters!
About Randy Rosenberger
As a retired teacher, having taught for 35 years, I spend a lot of time in our many flower gardens, with water features, metal sculptures, and many flowering trees, bushes and shrubs. My wife gave me a digital camera for a Christmas present a few years ago, and I started taking photos of the many types of flora and fauna on our property. This became an enjoyable hobby for me, to enjoy the outdoors, and capture some of the beautiful photo opportunities that our gardens have provided. I especially love close-ups of flowers and insects, and basically anything that has something unique to capture on film. I have entered several contests in our area, and even won some recognition with my photos. I have posted on Face Book and am now...

This was taken during a historical tour of a late 1800's historic home and gardens, and one of the best trips I have had to pleasure to be involved in. This was an old hitching post, where people who visited the mansion owners, would stop, while the servants would tend to their horse and carriage, while the owners welcomed their special visitors. Thanks so much for your continual inspiring comments and your support of our group. Much appreciated!

Beautiful stone, Randy!

Thanks, Sue! I thought it was somewhat unique, as we used to raise horses when I was a kid, and I have seen some of the more traditional hitching posts, like you see in Western movies, but this was a new one to me.
