Artist's Description
Hog Island is barrier island in Virginia. It had a town called Broadwater up until 1933 when a storm drove the residents off the island to the mainland Eastern Shore of Virginia. There were two lighthouses on the island. This painting is a depiction of the first lighthouse and the keepers quarters before the turn of the 20th century. The lighthouse and keepers quarters are situated accurately as they would have looked over the Atlantic Ocean, giving a view of a gorgeous sunrise. That is what I have depicted in this painting, highlight blues, reds, and yellows.
