This piece is very true to it's picture very defined. The cup itself is of fine quality as well. The story behind it was beautiful to read. When I look at it, it will take me back to the first time that I saw and read the story. Glad I took the time to purchase. No regrets!

Frida Kahlo (19071954) was an internationally popular Mexican painter. She used vibrant colors in her paintings that often dipicted the indigenous cultures of Mexico but most of her works were self-portraits. I am intrigued with Frida Kahlo for many reasons. Obviously, I relate to her in that she was a female Hispanic artist, but also because she embraced the naturalness of her body, allowing her facial hair to be what it was. I love her use of
color and adornment in her work as well as in her personal dress. She married Mexican muralist Diego Rivera but was enable to have children due to an accident in her youth that left her in chronic pain. At one time, she did become pregnant with a boy but she miscarried. She suffered terribly with the loss and was to refer to the lost baby as
"Mi Dieguito" or "My Little Diego". I painted this piece to put Frida's son back into her arms, to give her what she so longed for, a child and...
Through my work I always hope to tell a story about my personal experiences as a Hispanic woman. I was born and raised in the beautiful state of New Mexico and my family has been in northern New Mexico for over 10 generations. My work comes from my memories of growing up in a large extended family and my favorite subjects to paint are the people and traditions of northern New Mexico. I have always loved art and have wanted to become an artist for as long as I can remember. My primary medium is acrylic on canvas. I have also enjoyed using acrylic on wood as well. As a self-taught artist, I really fight looking at something when I'm painting or sketching. I love just allowing my work to evolve organically. My preliminary sketches are...

Congratulations on your sale. This is a new Frida Kahlo depictions forme...for she is posing like a "Madona and Child"...It is veautiful and has a haunting appeareance in ti. Love the frame..so simply and effective. And love the way the child is looking and touching. seeems to "understand the tenderness" and protect her from sokind of rigidity that is gripping her body-soul. Precious. Rosa
