How The West Was Won. I remember the days, when traveling out to Arizona, we would stop a places that were not in the east. The food. the motels and truck stops were complete different than accustomed to. Not a bad thing, actually great because it was an adventure just to eat. The places found, along the freeway, offered all kinds of new and you were for sure, a long ways from home. The Howard Johnsons, now Ho Jos, were only in the west. A&W rootbeer I missed when we left. Each place had a culture and everything was in tune to that way of life. It made traveling a thrill like no other. I still travel, I still enjoy it, but each place now is just like the one left behind. I understand why, I also understand what was lost.
