Congratulations to my wonderful husband, I knew when you woke me this morning that something was up and then you told me that you had sold two boxes of cards. I am so very proud of you, you do excellant work and no matter the accolades you receive from me, making a sale is a more formidable comment! Love you Honey!

Artist's Description

INDIAN Island was originally bought by the U.s. for the grand sum of $25.00 from silas piper in 1849 and the government appropriated $3,500.00 for the light house. The lighthouse started working in around 1856 when a fourth order Fresnel lens was installed. The lighthouse stopped working for a short time and started back up in 1875, when a new tower was erected for the sum of $9,000.00. As you can see in this painting there is also a 1 story t-shaped dwelling. Indian Light was discontinued in 1934 and replaced by an automatic light on Lowell Rock. This lighthouse is privately owned.
