This is one of three pieces that I am adding to my collection. Once I have received the other two pieces I will be happy to provide a photograph of the display. The quality of the art piece is exceptional. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase even more pieces!

We were disappointed that the name of the artist is cut off and not showing in full. We feel the name of the artist is an important part of it and would love to have it rectified

We live in the desert so the Palm theme resonates. The color scheme is brilliant and perfect. We would like to see more from this artist. Where do we look?

Artist's Description
When Jaguar cars introduced their XK120 range of sports cars in 1948 the effect was electric, all previous sports cars immediately looked very dated and it set new standards for the industry. It performed even better than it looked thanks to its brilliant ohc engine and, for its day, superb road-holding.
It was also relatively inexpensive costing under a 1000 new when most comparable cars were three or even four times as much, truly one of the all time classics but at one time in the 1960s a good second-hand example could be picked up for a few hundred pounds. The XK140 was its updated replacement in1954 and is seen here at a typical roadside filling station.
A painting like this of your favourite car British or American would cost 2000, e-mail mike@transportartist.co.uk for details of how to commission a painting.

About Mike Jeffries
COMMISSION A PAINTING FROM MIKE. It is with great regret that I have to inform you that Mike sadly passed away November 2020 aged 81, but I, (his partner) will keep his shop here going and am happy to reply to any emails you might send to his own email address at mike@transportartist.co.uk. Virtually nobody considered the humble lorry worthy of the subject of a painting until Mike made it so. Years of being at the sharp end of long distance HGV driving has given him an insight and knowledge into the industry that enables Mike to depict lorries as they really were in the past and not the idealized view of the less knowledgeable making him the man to paint an original of your favourite commercial vehicle. He is without a doubt THE lorry...

When I was young, my uncle owned a XK 120 in white with the red interior. After his passing, we found a photograph of the car, but no documentation as to what he did with it. Thank you for the memories.

Many thanks for the feature Nop in your group Gaz Stations of the World.

Thank you Donna for that nice comment, I remember the days when a classic such as this could be had for hundreds rather than thousands of pounds. My first car which I bought in 1960 was a 1934 Austin Seven cost me £7.10s, yes SEVEN which in those days was about a week's wages!

You are amazing Mike! This is a great painting! I had an XK140 back in 1972 just like this one only it was a hard top. There were only about 300 made and about 100 imported. I was very sorry when we sold it. Years later I found out that a new boss I had bought it. We had a lot of laughs about that.
