Artist's Description

Johnny Sack's Cabin is located at Big Springs, five miles east of Mack's Inn on Highway 20 in Island Park, Idaho. The cabin can be reached via a short, paved walking path starting in the campground at Big Springs. The cabin's unique location, contruction, and furnishings provide for an interesting visit. Johnny Sack, a German cabinet maker, came to the United States in his 20's. In 1929, he leased a small tract of land at Big Springs from the Forest Service. The cabin was started in 1932 and completed three years later. Even though he was a bachelor all his life, he had many friends and visitors. Consequently, he added on to the house over the year.

About Robert Bales

Robert Bales

I am a retired teacher, coach and athletic director. While my wife, Judy, and I were teaching she had a photo studio, and I had a dark room where I did black and white and color. Some was for the studio while most of it was just a hobby. When we retired in 2000, we sold our house in Eastern Washington and moved onto our boat, Last Class, and our motorhome. We sold Last Class a few years ago and bought a small house in Yuma, Arizona and this year bought one in Emmett Idaho. Now we spend the summers in Emmett and the winters in Yuma. Over our 50 years of marriage, we have always had an interest in photography and still do. You may order any unframed photo from this website. Just email me at hay5bales@yahoo.com the name of the photo...
