I like the lumpy texture. It looks like it is just barely holding together. Life is often lumpy and clumped together experiences and connections. The painting is a choice to express joy on that kind of surface. The image is thickly painted and looks like it adds connecting strength to the clumps of paper under the paint. So the material becomes an important part of the message for me. Makes me want to experiment with surfaces.

"Joy" is the perfect name for this! And yes, I believe it is "daring" also, because it is done on a hand-made surface that is highly and randomly textured -- not like the more predictable, "subdued" handmade substrates that we commonly see artists use where I live. ' The paper helps make the painting (and the artist!) unique! Also, I like the color depth you achieved because of the paper quality. The whole package makes me smile!

Why daring?

Nice, and very daring . . .
