I bought this in the greeting card form. I have been purchasing cards from Fine Art America for two or three years. Covid might have been some of the reason for looking for cards on the internet. Shops were closed. The main reason I buy cards from FAA is because I got tired of looking for cards at the usual card shops. I could find cards (sometimes) that looked good on the outside but the verses were terrible or it was the other way around...terrible on the outside but maybe a decent verse inside. I pick cards from FAA that fit with the occasion. I figure I can write something on the inside as good as any card company could. I wouldn't buy these cards if I didn't think they were wonderful. The cards are beautiful and excellent quality and the envelopes are equality as good. I am glad I can make a copy of what I've bought so I can keep track of who gets what card. I don't want to send the same card to someone twice. In this case, the card is going to someone for Mother's Day.

A belted kingfisher, wearing a crown, surveys his marshy kingdom, as a line of turtles, his loyal subjects, are lined up before him. Flying fish pass overhead, and dragonflies flit around in this whimsical scene which is framed by flowering purple thistles, grasses, and other bits of vegetation.
This fanciful composite image incorporates two original photographs as key features: one of a belted kingfisher, captured at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, and the other of a line of turtles on a partially submerged log, captured at Wakulla Springs. Two other personal photographs were employed: an image of downtown London, England, and thistles and other vegetation from St. Marks.
The palette of this piece is greens, golds, and purple, with touches of gray blue on the kingfisher.
This piece has a little bit of a background. I have recently been intrigued by kingfishers. It started with my quest to photograph these little birds, which I initially found very elusiv...
My love of photography grew out of capturing images from my travels, so photographs of beautiful and interesting places comprise a large portion of my portfolio. I am a Southern girl, and love the beauty that is in my back yard, so there are also lots of images from close to home. These include images of our beautiful Gulf Coast beaches, which I visit any time I can! I also enjoy capturing images of interesting flora and fauna, and wildlife images I am able to capture with my newest telephoto lens! I am a painter, as well as a photographer, and offer galleries of paintings and mixed media pieces. My interest in traditional art has spilled over to my post processing of photographs, and in addition to images with minimal post...
