Beautiful print! The only thing I don’t love is the imprint from the wood at the back of the canvas. Maybe different packaging would help?
Artist's Description
I decided to get a bit out of the wind and moved eastward along the lakeshore a few hundred metres. The dry slot was still holding and there was even more blue sky between the cumulus streets. The dry slot is most pronounced and cloud free in the mid and high levels of the atmosphere. In the low levels there was a lot of moisture to stir up with turbulent mixing into clouds.
The masts of all of the sailing boats moored at the Kingston Yacht Club were in the foreground along with the Canadian flag. That is Garden Island in front of Wolfe Island. The sloping lawns of the Royal Military College of Canada is on the extreme left.
The wind was strong from the southwest and increased with height. The atmospheric signature for this was the swirl of clouds as depicted in the upper right corner of the painting. The winds would increase at the surface with further daytime heating and mixing of these with to the surface through an unstable, convective process.
About Phil Chadwick
I paint outside - nothing between my eyes and the inspiration. That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants... A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...
