I had held off purchasing any Super Bowl LVIII collectibles or memorabilia until I found something that I thought was just “awesome”. When I saw this SI Cover, I knew I had to have it. Honestly it’s one of the best photos I’ve ever seen. Along with the captions it captures what Super Bowl LVIII was all about. Your Photog was in the right place at the right time and did a great job of capturing what Chiefs fans all across the country felt at that moment. As you can see I had the perfect place for it, it makes this wall complete and up to date.
Artist's Description
In southern Sri Lanka, we visited Yala National Park, a sanctuary for wildlife. We went out on a 6 hour safari in search of elephants and leopards. Not a single leopard was found but we did come, literally, face to face with this elephant.
We spotted him about 50 metres away and he wandered over, closer and closer to our open air 4WD. When he was close enough to reach out and touch, mild panic washed over us. Mum, who was sitting next to me, put her head between her legs to hide and my aunt closed her eyes and hoped for the best. Everything was still and silent.. except for the sound coming from my camera :)
I was able to hold my composure as long as I was looking at him through the camera. I ended up taking about 80 or so shots of him before he grabbed a tuft of grass next to the rear wheel, ate it and left.
All in all he was around for about five minutes. Felt like a lot longer though! He was not threatened by us in the slightest. We truly underestimate the intelligence a...
About Andrew Paranavitana
My work often takes two avenues of theme: a darker, sometimes scary world of unseen nightmares, and a nostalgic playground of warm memories, much safer and happier than the former. I have always looked further than traditional methods of photography. Digital manipulation has allowed me to communicate and share my view of the world. I have a need to lace my work with elements of obscure visions and deliver a piece the viewer can connect with on multiple levels. Andrew Paranavitana is an independent photographic artist. His driving passion for photography began in 1994. Since then, Andrew has exhibited works both internationally and within Australia and in 2014, completed a Diploma of Photo Imaging at RMIT in Melbourne. Andrews...

his eye conveys wildness, a potential for great rage and assertion of overwhelming strength. yet your narrative reveals something else as well - a wild wisdom, a willingness to trust, to be curious, to learn. we are reminded that these are intensely social animals after all. what a memorable experience and what an inspiring shot. thanks!
