Artist's Description

Yessica is a lovely young Honduran woman who entertained us with local music. In 2000, I went with a group from my church to Juticalpa, Honduras, to build a community for people who had lost everything in the floods after Hurricane Mitch. I have been back almost every year since. A scholarship program was started using money from sales of my paintings for young people in the Colonia we built to continue their schooling beyond the 6th grade--the grade at which government-paid education ends. All money from the sale of my Honduran paintings goes to the scholarship fund.

Pursuing painting seriously since 1987, she has studied with leading impressionists in the country, and her work has been exhibited across the U.S. and in Europe.
