Artist's Description
An overlook park on First Street is the location of the iconic, beloved bronze sculpture by Whidbey Island artist Georgia Gerber. The faithful dog waits for the throw of a ball, while "his boy" gazes out over beautiful Saratoga Passage and Camano Island. No trip to Langley is complete without a photo taken here.
About Judi Nyerges
I was born in Seattle and raised Bothell. From 1970 until 2010 I lived in Rockford, Michigan, a small, quaint tourist town on the Rogue River near Grand Rapids, very near the Big Lake. I retired from my career as a high school art teacher and was able to realize a long-time dream of relocating to Whidbey Island, Washington. Having enjoyed so many good summers of Art on Beaver Island in Lake Michigan I was eager to try an artistic life on an island full time. And I was very ready to trade the long, hard, midwestern winters for the softer climate of Washington. Whidbey Island called and I answered. My expectations for life here were for a color palette muted to tones of grey and grey-green. But, to my surprise and delight I have found...
