Dave Bowman replied:

Thanks very much Jon, and for your vote!

Love this shot... it reminds me of one I took back in the late 40's, but not a sunset or this angle... Its not easy to get the angle you want, when someone else control the boat your on. ;) The sunset makes it a much better shot !

Dave Bowman replied:

Thanks Nadine and Bob! I think I was lucky on this particular day - the boat, sun and statue just happened to align at the right time for me :)

Thanks James, and for your vote!

Beautiful image...v

very nice! saw this in the LAP pick of the day thread..voted

David, this is just an awesome photo, with the beautiful silhouette of the Statue of Liberty created by the sunset. Fantastic colors throughout the sky, almost feels like a halo around the Statue of Liberty has been created. Love how still have a little reflection in the water and enough light to show the ripples in the water. Fantastic shot, voted, favorite, FB promoted and my Pick of the Day 3 for Lets All Participate thread

Artist's Description

The Statue of Liberty in silhouette as the sun sets over New York. ..... The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbour, designed by Frederic Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886. The statue was constructed in France, shipped overseas in crates, and asse...

About Dave Bowman

Dave Bowman

As a photographer I like to be on the move, physically and technically, trying out new approaches and discovering new paths. I believe artists should continually challenge themselves and experiment in order to progress creatively and to keep ideas fresh and vital. My primary aim is to capture the essential quality of the experience before me at the very moment the shutter closes. I then allow the subject to dictate the precise levels of tone or colour required for the final image. These decisions are key to my creative process and something I find continually challenging and inspiring. Dave Bowman Photography
