I gathered the lilacs for my studio, then painted them using oils and a wax/resin medium, over a collage of pages from a set of old, rain-ruined children's encyclopedias I had salvaged. There's a militaristic theme to the collaged images: I was thinking about the need to escape the constant background noise of violence and hate that we live with in our media-saturated world.

This is the first in a series.
