Your sculpture is so beautiful and amazingly created!! Your design is incredible, Jeremiah!! Thank you so much in many ways! I love your sculptures!!

Jeremiah Welsh replied:

Thank you once again Xueling! You do me a great honor with your words. I am so very glad to know that this little sculpture has caught your eye! It seems that it often gets passed over in favor of more overtly pleasant works, but it has deep personal meaning to me & I find that I am very fond of it. Thank you, thank you Xueling! Be well and stay well this day. Cheers!

Thank you Janet. I am very glad to know that you enjoy my sculpture. Thank you for taking the time to extend your thoughts and encouragement. Sculpture is at the very root of me - it is my joy. In point of fact, it seems sometimes that I think and dream in clay, and bas relief as a format is like coming home. I am happiest when I am at work, with tool in hand and plastilina in the air. I am so glad to know that I have been able to share my thoughts and images in such a positive way. Thank you again Janet. Be well and stay well.

Your work is beautiful!! Exquisite, fun. Thanks for pushing me to be better. Janet

Thank you jrr! I'm very glad to know that enjoy my sculpture! Sculpture is my heart and root. Thank you as well for taking the time to look through the rest of my work, for each of your comments & for doing me the honor of adding my photographs to your Favorites! I truly appreciate your thoughts and encouragement. I actually have quite a lot of other sculpture waiting in the wings at present that is along the lines of this piece, i.e. quirky, mystical, whimsical. At present I'm trying to build up a substantial number of works for a solo exhibition, so unfortunately it may be some time before I display the bulk of my sculpture here. In any case there is quite a lot of additional photography left to exhibit a well as paintings and drawings ect., so please stop back by and say hello now and again. Cheers for now jrr. Be well and stay well and thank you again!

WOW!! Your sculptures are magnificent!!-jrr

Artist's Description

This sculpture is inspired by and dedicated to the loss of childhood, both metaphorical & real. Some people find hope in this image, others sadness. I myself cannot decide which emotion takes precedence ￿ often it depends upon the day. When I was in elementary school I often found myself staring at the blurred faces of missing children on the back of my milk carton. The printing was rough, transforming the image into ￿Any Child￿ or ￿Every Child,￿ and it was captioned with the legend ￿HAVE YOU SEEN ME?￿ Those half-defined faces still haunt me. In reflection, I suppose that I could have seen any or many of those faces around me and never even known it. The true power of those milk cartons was for me the introduction of the idea of human suffering as a present social problem. Those children were just like me. This was a heavy message for a young child to accept. It planted a seed - the spectre of unknown danger and fixed its reality in...
