This painting, like most of my work, has subliminal text. For example (and I won't reveal all) in the smoke of the cigarette are the words "Free Sex". There are other words and hidden images as well.

I'm a sculptor and painter. I started out as a science fiction and fantasy illustrator, influenced by the work of Frank Frazetta. I also served a year as an apprentice to Seward Johnson at his atelier in New Jersey. I've studied art, theatre, martial arts and ballroom dance. My work tends to be very autobiographic. I paint and sculpt from my life and experiences, often inserting a self portrait or using myself as model. I still like to use fantasy elements and, probably because I was a sailor, I have a thing for mermaids. I have done cover work for comics, illustrations for magazines and had my work used on the set of television shows such as Desperate Housewives. I like traditional mediums like stone and bronze, oil paints and...
