Here the US Marines are training at Camp Pendleton. The M1A1 Abrams Tank was manufactured by United States. It was named after General Creighton Abrams, former Army Chief of Staff Commander of U.S. Military forces in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972. This tank is equipped with a 1,500 horsepower jet turbine engine. It runs on JP8 jet fuel, but in an emergency it can run on gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, and kerosene. It can travel up to 42 mph. The M1 Abrams is protected with a very strong layered armor and has a 120 mm smooth bore cannon, a thermal sight, and a laser range finder. It can hit targets up to 2 miles away and has 3 machine guns; one 50 caliber and two 30 caliber. The cannon shells are stored in a blow-out compartment for crew safety and this tank fires 3 or 4 different kinds of cannon shells. It is one of the most powerful tanks in the world. Weighing nearly 68 tons, it is one of the heaviest main battle tanks in service.

I was born in San Jose, California in 1953. In 1954 we moved to the suburbs of Detroit Michigan. We moved again to the suburbs of Chicago in 1956. Due to my Dad’s employment, we moved to Pennsylvania in 1959, so I have lived Penna. in since then. I grew up on a small farm in Pennsylvania and was inducted into the National Honor Society in high school. I was on the Dean's List a few times and earned my degrees in biology and natural science at Muhlenberg College, a small liberal arts college in Allentown PA in the mid 70s. The art history course I took in my senior year at Muhlenberg College and did extremely well in, was very educational, and I enjoyed it.
