MAGUEY MANSO, TLACAMEL OR MAGUEY PULQUERO SCIENTIFIC NAME: Agave salmiana variety ferox FAMILY: AGAVACEAE From the juice of this plant the alcoholic drink called \"pulque\" takes place. It is an ancestral Mexican drink; his consumption still prevails between the rural communities and, in minor measurement, in the cities. It is obtained of the fermentation of the juices known as �aguamiel� concentrated on the heart of the plant, before the flower of the agave goes out, since the flower can use all the nutrientes and it might not be possible to obtain �aguamiel�. During the pre-Hispanic times, the �pulque� was used in ceremonies principally by the priests, to be able to have a better conception of the messages that the Gods were sending. The abuse of the pulque was severely prohibited. The inebriation that it was causing was considered \" cause of any discord and disagreement, like an infernal storm, which was bringing with it all the evil \",...

My interest in painting and shooting nature begins from my professional studies of Biology at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico with assignature on “ Drawing Applied to Biology ” by the great Scientific Illustrator and Teacher Aldi de Oyarzábal, one of the founder members of the Mexican Academy of Scientific Illustration. Along with my progress in the scientific area there was always my need to capture nature with its great variety of color and detail which Iead me into the world of the Photography and Microphotography with Science Master Alejandro Martínez Mena at the Microcine Laboratory also at UNAM.
