This looks gorgeous printed on wood. It is now hanging on my therapy office wall and is perfect. The color is true to the photo. I love it.

Very pleased with the image, color, printing . My selection of printing onto wood is great for this image. There are a few mildly dark lines which are natural to wood. They show through the image and contribute to the image--glad that none of these was over the face of the horse rider.

Artist's Description
In 2012 my wife and I took a vacation in the USA and spent two wonderful weeks visiting several old friends that we had made when we lived in South Carolina in the 1990s.
During our stay we visited Charleston, South Carolina with some close friends and spent a couple of days touring the area and enjoying the classical architecture of the city. As we explored the streets the historic district, we popped into the Meeting Street Inn (no 173) and were immediately impressed by the wonderful atmosphere in the garden courtyard. I knew immediately that I wanted to paint it.
The building dates back to 1874 and over the years has had a variety of uses, including a saloon, restaurant, fashionable boutique, auto parts store and bicycle rentals store.
Then, in 1981 the property was renovated, enlarged and transformed into the Meeting Street Inn. The Inn thrived until its parent company failed in the late 1980's and it grdually deteriorated until it was acquired by the current owner in 19...
About Richard Harpum
Award-winning artist, Richard Harpum, paints in a realist style, paying meticulous attention to detail. His medium of choice is acrylics on canvas or board but he also uses oils and paints watercolour florals. Richard's primary focus is landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes and gardens but he also paints portraits, still lifes and florals. The effective use of light is a key ingredient to all of Richard’s works and he spends a great deal of time before starting a painting in selecting a composition that provides both drama and contrast. Born in Bromley, England, in 1951, Richard has had a passion for drawing and painting from a very young age. As a youngster, he was always drawing and became a prolific painter after he received an...

Richard, this is an absolutely glorious image ... what a talent you are!!!! I can well imagine this was quite the artistic undertaking, but may I say on behalf of all of us who have and will view it, it was worth it!!!! Such perfection of light and shadow down to the smallest nuance (as in the intricate work of the wrought iron furniture). Subtle, warmth of color is so inviting!!! You've created a masterpiece. I'm suspecting that the owners of the Inn will soon be banging down your door to buy this for their main lobby!!!! WOW!!!!!! ... ps ... loved finding Oscar!!! f/v
Richard Harpum replied:
Thanks for your generous praise, Lois. Yes, this was an "undertaking"! It took me longer to paint than any other painting, except the large one of Prague at Dusk, which is nearly 3 times the area. I've sent a letter to the Inn, so it will be interesting to see what they think of it. I'm glad you found Oscar. He's been busy lately! I enjoyed catching up on the recent additions to your galleries. Some great shots there and some favs. Best wishes, Richard
Sharon Burger
Wow Richard, your talent is amazing and your palette is exquisite...v/f
Richard Harpum replied:
Thanks again, Sharon. I use a very limited palette in all my paintings and fortunatley had a tube of pink that I rarely use but which was a great match for this painting.

The building dates back to 1874 and over the years has had a variety of uses, including a saloon, restaurant, fashionable boutique, auto parts store and bicycle rentals store. Then, in 1981 the property was renovated, enlarged and transformed into the Meeting Street Inn. The Inn thrived until its parent company failed in the late 1980's and it grdually deteriorated until it was acquired by the current owner in 1992, since when it has been converted into a luxury inn and hotel. What inspired me to paint this scene was the wonderful light. It was a beautiful day and the dappled light playing across the courtyard captured my imagination. Although I knew this painting was going to be a challenge, it turned out to be far more time-consuming than I had expected. However, I enjoyed the experience and am pleased with the final result. Although there is no clear focal point, my hope is that people will spend time exploring the painting and picking out some of the interesting features of this wonderful place. And if you look carefully, you can see that my favourite dog Oscar has crept in again and is enjoying the sunshine in the top courtyard.
