I noted that the color came out differently on this size of bag, it is distinctly more purple. I happen to love that color also--the larger size has perfect color, exactly like the photo. I love both of my bags.

Midland Red was unique in that they built their own vehicles rather than buying them in from the large manufacturers and as a result always seemed to be one step ahead. The full fronted style on their C1 coach was well ahead of their rivals in 1948 when introduced but had echoes of Art Deco from a previous decade however they put in nearly twenty years of front-line service and luckily one example survived the scrap-man and is in preservation.
Seen here sometime in the mid-fifties leaving Cheltenham coach station which was a staging post for coaches from all over the country and where at 2pm most days a veritable fleet of coaches would depart to all points of the compass!
