Artist's Description
Available as a poster sized print, this is the Cover Art for the political satire "Mitt Romney Too Weird to be President".
I composed this High Priest (Mitt's Mormon Temple title) using the Seal of Melchizedek - the Mormon Seal, superimposed over a starless American Flag. Mitt is looking out through the 'eye of the Mormon seal'. The composition artistically demonstrates that Mr. Romney will taint his Office of Presidency by the bigotry of his secret and bizarre beliefs.

Hi Stephen, I like.. OK... love that we have freedom of speech still as well as freedom of religion still in our country giving use the right to say what we feel. I need to ask though, did you take that photo of Romney? Or, did you obtain the rights from the photographer that took that photo to use it in your image?
Stephen Paul West replied:
Good Question, but the answer is in the type of speech contained in a satirical work such as this book. Since this book is satire I can easily and legally used any of Mitt Romney's own photos - like so. Do you think the Colbert Report gets permission to use the products that it satires? No. So satire is different, like so: The Supreme Court of the United States stated that parody "is the use of some elements of a prior author's composition to create a new one that, at least in part, comments on that author's works". For my own original works of art, the works are entirely my compositions from start to finish. A Political Satire cover required me to reach out into stock photos. The book was at #12 in politics on Friday and will be # nothing after election day. So, all is fair and honest in this artwork.
