Le Mont Saint-Michel monastery in France dominates the small island community that is built up the sides of the mountain on which it stands. The abbey dates from the 8th century. Saint Michael's Mount as it is called in English was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.

Beautiful all encompassing capture with great textures and lots of details. I am going back to France later in October this year (ticket already bought), specifically to go to Mont Saint-Michel and stay in the area of a couple of day to witness its beauty at sunrise and sunset and at low tide and high tide. This is beautiful Nikolyn, and I hope you have more images from there to post. Thank you for sharing.

Oh, I envy you that trip, Hany, and really look forward to your photographs. Though I visited more than once, I was never there more than a few hours at a time and never at the golden hour. It's a fascinating and beautiful place, though, and you will not regret you choice to linger. I don't actually have many more photos from there - only from one (my last) trip there in 2007. Before that I had a film camera and since I was leading a group of students, my primary purpose for carrying it was to take pictures of them :)

This is an amazing place, so popular that there's an expression in France that is used whenever a place or event is very crowded - they say "you'd think we were at Mont Saint-Michel" :) The abbey and monastery themselves are large enough to absorb many visitors, but the winding road through the village, lined with restaurants and souvenir shops, is narrow and always crowded. I was lucky enough to visit a number of times and never tired of it, though. Thanks for the comment, Inge.
