Mother - Oil Pastel on Paper - 2011

A painting of my mother, taken from a black and white photograph. I wanted to paint my mother and give her the painting as a gift for her birthday. What was amazing is that I did not know the colour of the sweater since the photograph was black and white and taken before my birth. It was also a surprise gift so I couldn't ask her. When I gave this finished painting to her as a gift, she loved it and continues to hang in her home. But was even more surprised that I guessed the correct colour of her sweater.
