This art did not translate well in this printed card. The foreground detail does not show well, unfortunately. I do love the art itself.

I'm not sure this artwork can be accurately replicated in this format. I may try ordering it as a print to see if that will work better.

The image is a little dark but it is a card I will give at Christmas.
All her life, Dawn has known the mule deer who drift past every day in winter, browsing on the sagebrush, frolicking, courting, and carrying on their wild lives. This woodcut celebrates the doe Dawn calls Strawberry because she's first down from the mountains each fall, in time to eat her favorite treat, the garden strawberry leaves, before other deer find them. Her two fawns play and pretend to be startled by the solitaire thrush flitting by. Strawberry greets Elegance, one of the magnificent bucks who know where to hide during hunting season and emerge in all their glory to pursue the females across the snowy hills.
I have been an artist since I was knee high to a short-horned locust. My dad, Willoughby Senior (FAA) was a professional artist and writer and I have stepped in his shoes since I was born, though he drew horses better than I did when I was a kid. My family lived in a hand-hewn log cabin we built ourselves in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and had no water or electricity. I love my life with my husband and family in Wyoming among the horses, gophers, deer, antelope, coyotes, red-tailed hawks, and the wild landscape. My work is driven by the land, animals, wild plants and birds I have come to know so well. Hummingbirds still try to get nectar from my upturned fingers. My artwork consists of all these things and more...

Hi Dawn, this woodcut-on-rice-paper reads like a Chinese scroll narrative that one views in long museum galleries. The difference is that your pictorial story is bolder in its execution & more intimate in its characters--Mr Elegance-&-Mrs Strawberry MuleDeer, fun-loving fawns & Thorndike Thrush out shopping for groceries... A treat for the eyeballs!

I really love this image!!!!!

One thing I love about this little family scene is the playfulness of the deer and the scruffiness of their coats. I love the long & narrow design. This is just so nicely done and beautiful.
