This is a prime Mule deer buck in the wild, usually live 9-11 years there.It was foraging fall grasses. Mule deer eyes are located on the sides of their heads, they can see about 310 degree view around themselves. They have much better night time vision and tend to feed than, but less accurate daytime and some color vision. Mule deer can detect slight predator movement up to 3/8th of a mile away (1980 feet), but they are not very good at detecting motionless forms.
A mule deer�s sense of smell is very good and up to 1,000 times stronger than a human�s. Some research suggests that a mule deer can detect human odor at up to a half mile away. They can detect water that is up to two feet below ground.
