Thank you, Bruce!

I have a photograph similar to yours in my gallery, Sean. When I looked it up in one of my flower books it said it was Blue Centaurea Amethyst. You might check it out on the internet and see. Anyway your photograph is a beautiful capture.

Nice shot. I'm going with bachelor, I have a few shots of them. I can buy seed packets in multiple colors :-)

Thanks, Chris!

Hey Sean I think this looks a little like a miniature agapanthus,r:4,s:150,i:222

Sean Griffin replied:

Thanks, Anne!

I don't know what it is but I think it's just lovely. The colour is so intense!

Sean Griffin replied:

Thank you, Fran!

It is a type of a Bachelor Button, a perennial. You may be able to accurately identify it as Centaurea montana. Good luck!

Sean Griffin replied:

I think you nailed it, Erica! Thank you!

Beautiful capture.

Sean Griffin replied:

Thanks, Jacqui!

Cool Ya know i have a flower similar to that ,it seems like the petals came out like a pinwheel instead of flat i will post it later today ,it is odd

Sean Griffin replied:

Thanks, Kathy. Looking forward to seeing yours!

Stunning wildflower, Sean.

Sean Griffin replied:

Great photo Sean ... looks like something in a Dr. Seuss book! Fave and vote!

Sean Griffin replied:

It does, doesn't it! Thanks for the compliment and the f/v, Seth!

Artist's Description

Can you identify this wildflower? I came upon it, past its peak bloom, on a hillside above the Nisqually River near the southwest corner of Mount Rainier National Park in the state of Washington, USA. It was growing along with other common Northwest wildflowers, including lupine, Scot's broom and daisies.
