Artist's Description
This is one of my Antiques from 1989 which was just found in our garage since we moved to Florida. It's one of my favorites, as it was the first time with pottery, and first time with wood. The shadows were a new process to me then. I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed painting it a few decades ago!
About Alanna Hug-McAnnally
Thank you so much for visiting my site. It's been an unusual journey on my way to painting. Due to an illness when I was 40 - over 2 decades ago - I had to quit working. One day I went to a large mall and was happily surprised by an art show/competition. While looking at all the paintings (about 1,000 in all), I was drawn to one particular artist. It turned out she was the teacher to 1/2 of the artists there. Having told her I was degreed in opera and concert, she immediately told me: "If you are in one of the arts, you are in all of them." That turned out to be true, and it turned out I could paint. Since then, I have been in jurried competitions, came in second in my first and first in my second. One is now in a museum, a gift...

Antonia - you site is absolutely gorgeous! Just had to comment on "Pumpkin" - the chahuahua - he looks exactly like our "Studley" who is now at the Rainbow Bridge. We now have "GG" - a black chahuahua. Thank you for your lovely comments. A friend of mine had a grandmother who was full-blooded cherokee. She was my inspiration. Please forgive my typos - two fingers don't work. lol Again, thank you so much.

Chrisann - another antique from the garage I dusted off some months ago since we moved to FL. I was probably painting less than a year at this point. Heaven knows how I did it - and did it at home by myself. Go figure! I enjoy the colors in this - so "southwestern." Thank you again, Chris - and for the Vote too. Your comments always lift me up. :D

Phyllis - thank you so very much for your lovely comments and the V/F. This is one of my "oldie goldies" and still enjoy looking at it. I went to your site - and the paintings and photographs are beautiful. My fav painting is the otter with company, and my fav photograph is that stunning elevator on page 1. WOW to both. Again, thank you so very much. :D

Jane, I need to place you on my watch list. Gorgeous paintings with such a unique style and gorgeous use of colors. Thank you for taking the time to send me your lovely comments. I understand what you are saying about earlier works. I just sold one (the original) which I must have done at least 10 years ago! Again, your comments are greatly appreciated. :D

I came back to say that this spoke to me deeply today too. Maybe it's those dusky pink tones again. Wonderful to find this subtle and harmonious work in your garage. I'm always struggling to accept that my early works are not inferior but different. Sometimes out of all my paintings, someone buys one from twenty years ago ! And I have mixed feelings about that ! But end up pleased of course! This is beautifully done. Another favourite for sure. v/f
