Artist's Description

I like to draw. In pencil, in pen and ink, in charcoal. I feel that I am better at drawing than painting. I draw out every image that I paint and sometimes I keep a copy of the drawing and maybe even frame some. This is the building thaat has the door from Chained Shut, one of my other pen and ink sketches. I am drawn to the texture of old wood, nails, etc. that are prevalent in the old and deserted farm buildings around rural America. If I had the where with-all I would travel the entire country documenting all its old rural derelict farm buildings in egg tempera, pencil and pen & ink.

About Peter Muzyka

Peter Muzyka

I was raised on a farm in rural Pennsylvania and whenever I got the chance, I drew and eventually painted. I started learning advanced art techniques in the mid 1960's under Pennsylvania artist Andrew Palencar. He had a mastery of old masters' styles and took the time with a few of his serious art students to help us develop our skill levels. In the 70's I studied painting and illustration techniques under popular animal artists Robert C. Kray and George Luther Schelling. I won 1st place in oils and acrylics for a train painting in the US Navy-wide Juried Art Show in Norfolk VA in 1974 and later was selected to develop murals related to the National Bicentennial in Luzerne County, PA. In the 70's, I received many commissions for portraits...
