Artist's Description
North Creek is in Botetourt County, VA, in the Jefferson National Forest. This scene is located about seven-tenths [0.7] of a mile beyond the last bridge at a "turn-out" on the left. North Creek has been stocked for trout fishing year round; but current budgets may not allow it now. Up at the end of this road [FR 59] is the parking area for the hiking trail up to Apple Orchard Falls.

In 1981 I traded my tobacco habit for a Pentax SLR and never looked back (my wife thought this was a pretty good deal, too). Not being an extravert, I had no "people skills", so I chose landscape, nature, etc.; besides, access to the Blue Ridge Parkway was less than five miles of my home in the Bonsack, VA area. And lots of back roads in the national forests in the area. I spent a lot of time on the Parkway; and sometime in the mid '90's one of the Parkway rangers asked me if they could see some of my pictures of the wildflowers; that some of the ones that they used in the info center at the Peaks Of Otter were fading. They ended up using six of them; I knew they operated on a tight budget, so I let them use them at no cost and they...
