Artist's Description
What was one of the most common of Midwestern landscapes is an endangered one. The oak savanna is a lightly wooded grassland dominated by oaks and in fall the leaves range from deep rust to oxblood. I live near one and walk through it almost daily.
About Kim Gordon
Minnesota artist Kim Gordon is particularly drawn to landscape - to the connection between people and the land and the effects of landscape of its inhabitants as well as the effects of those inhabitants on the world around them. Gordon graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She is the principal of Open Cupboard Designs, a graphic design and illustration studio in Minneapolis, and also teaches art classes for adults and for children. She also has designed a line of greeting cards and luminaria, and is involved in PAN - Project Art for Nature.
