I love the painting, and fabric! I’ve always had Border Collies, so they are perfect for me! The insert stuffing is a little lumpy. But i am very satisfied.
Taken with a fisheye lens from the foremast of the tri-masted schooner 'Fylla' during the annual Round Fyn race for tall ships in July 2012. Probably about the most fun I have ever had taking a photo. Just a shame I forgot to get my foot out of the frame but high-wire acobatics weren't foremost on my mind.
I am an Australian freelance photographer and artist who has lived in Denmark since 1997. Photography has been a passion since I was about eight years old when I was given my mother's Kodak Box Brownie. It has become my living since 2005 after winning the Panasonic Batteries Amateur Photographer of the Year Award ( for Denmark) . Painting, like photography, has been a hobby since I was a young child. I see photography and painting as two sides of the same coin. For all that, painting can still take you places the camera cannot and vice versa. Over the years I have sold art works and photographic prints in Australia, Denmark, England, Italy & USA. In 1993 I illustrated a children's book in Australia titled, 'I have been to...

Ausra Paulauskaite
WOW! You were up there?! Unbelievable courage! Congrats on your sale! F
Robert Lacy replied:
Thanks Ausra. No great courage involved though. Sailors climb all over the rigging all the time and as for me, I had a safety harness on, so it was safer than crossing your average city street. Lots of fun though.

I'm glad you were able to get this shot so I don't have to. :-) Fantastic!
Robert Lacy replied:
Thanks Odd! I am sure a Viking like yourself would feel perfectly at home on the rigging:-)
Fred Lassmann
Nice Robert. I've been there on a 22 foot boat. Didn't take too long for the swaying to start getting to me though. This boat would have been much more stable, especially under sail. Nice image!
Robert Lacy replied:
Thanks Fred. It was a real fun day on the job!
Julie Dant
HA!!! And here I was so all-fired excited and impressed by your 'daring' to climb up the bowsprit!!!! ;0)) So. You must be pretty comfortable on sailboats and amongst the masts and the sails? But if not, you are very brave!!! That is ALSO another thing I'd love to do!!! I suppose they wouldn't just let ANYone go up there, however....lol...so my chances are slim. Just want you to know I'm so very in AWE of this shot of yours and your forgotten foot be danged! Who cares??! ;0)) Beautiful and spectacular shot, my friend!! Excelent! Faves!! and voted.
Robert Lacy replied:
Thanks again Julie. I am sure that you can find a crew who would let you climb the rigging. After all they let a rank sailboat novice like me but with a safety harnesses and, all in all, it is remarkably safe. I was so keen to get this shot that I would have done it without the safety harness - honest! It is a funny thing with heights - as long as I have something to hang onto I have no fear of climbing but stick me on the edge of a cliff and my legs go to rubber!
Joe Triano
I'm very moved my friend - exceptional in every way! All the best brother!! . .....Joe
