Artist's Description
Old School House in a field, 2009. Up the coast from San Luis Obispo, is the town of San Simeon. Most people know it was the home of William Randolph Hearst and every year thousands come to see his magnificent castle and it's treasures. I prefer the small treasures like this old school building behind the Sebastian Store. Because of the brightness of the sun. and smoggy conditions that day, this is one of the rare occasions where I had to do some post photography cleanup and brighten it slightly to bring out the flowers more.
About C Thomas Cooney
I was born and raised in Southern California and spent my life on the West Coast. In 2002 I became the third generation of my family to live in Washington after moving from San Francisco. Thank you! The schoolhouse is in San Simeon, just below Hearst Castle. The area has a very special connection to me as my mother was a docent at the Castle for a number of years and W.R Hearst beach just down from the school was where we cast her ashes after she passed in 2009.
