Artist's Description

Continuing on the desert foliage theme, this Palo Verde tree was done en plein aire here in Arizona. The tree typically has a bright green trunk with a striking display of yellow flowers in the spring. My style is reflected in this painting with the bold colorations and loose interpretation of the subject. This was done on grey colored paper as shown in the background.

Marilyn Barton is an artist living and working in Gold Canyon, Arizona. She has been painting in Watercolor, Pastel, and Charcoal. Marilyn began her art experimentation at UCLA. At the University she concentrated on the many aspects of fine art including, life drawing, illustration, photography, painting, printmaking and art history. In recent years, she studied watercolor from a well-known teacher and artist/publisher in the Palm Springs area. She continues her studies with classes in drawing with pencil, charcoal and pastel. Most recently she is exploring portraiture through her drawing classes.
