This is one of three pieces that I am adding to my collection. Once I have received the other two pieces I will be happy to provide a photograph of the display. The quality of the art piece is exceptional. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase even more pieces!

We were disappointed that the name of the artist is cut off and not showing in full. We feel the name of the artist is an important part of it and would love to have it rectified

We live in the desert so the Palm theme resonates. The color scheme is brilliant and perfect. We would like to see more from this artist. Where do we look?
Artist's Description
This was my very first painting. I picked Impressionism as I was still recovering from the onset of an illness, and my hands shook a lot. Thus, I thought - no straight lines to paint. It is a copy of a Yoli I bought about 30 years ago. When we started to learn to paint, we were instructed to copy something we liked. For the flowers in the basket, I mixed the paint with a thickening oil. I was the only person in the class required to draw this with charcoal. To this day I don\\\'t know why, but underneath the paint, it\\\'s a messy drawing!
About Alanna Hug-McAnnally
Thank you so much for visiting my site. It's been an unusual journey on my way to painting. Due to an illness when I was 40 - over 2 decades ago - I had to quit working. One day I went to a large mall and was happily surprised by an art show/competition. While looking at all the paintings (about 1,000 in all), I was drawn to one particular artist. It turned out she was the teacher to 1/2 of the artists there. Having told her I was degreed in opera and concert, she immediately told me: "If you are in one of the arts, you are in all of them." That turned out to be true, and it turned out I could paint. Since then, I have been in jurried competitions, came in second in my first and first in my second. One is now in a museum, a gift...

Jill, thank you for taking the time to comment. She is hard to find. I was told mine was the last one bought before she went to galleries. I've looked her up and her work is still hard to find. Absolutely have enjoyed anything she painted. This was my first painting and a lot of fun. Her use of texture was excellent.

I own a similar Yoli and am troubled that I can't find her work anywhere to buy or value what I have.

Viola - I just looked at your site - and the portraits - absolutely breathtaking! So very impressive. You definitely have true talent! Thank you for your lovely comment on my very first painting. She made me draw it in charcoal (I can't draw) so underneath is a lot of smudging and no drawing. Finally, I just started painting. lol Again, thank you so much for taking the time to look and leave a comment. It is very appreciated. :D

Carole - coming from you a truly inspiring comment. This was my first ever painting and so much fun. Our teacher could paint absolutely anything and was also my best teacher ever. Thank you again Carole - I've visited your site before and am always inspired by it. :D

Jane - thank you so very much for your lovely comments. Yes, this was my first painting and underneath is a world of smeared charcoal! Really smeared and covering most of the canvas. I finally just started painting and said the heck with the drawing. lol IF you look carefully, there are three "gray men" in the background - almost like shadows. This was a lot of fun to paint once I quit "drawing." You always say the nicest things and I truly appreciate it. We have totally different styles, but I admire yours ever so much and wish I could do the same! Let me know ASAP as soon as you get another on line, OK? Thank you again, Jane. :D

This is a very poetic and beautiful painting Alanna.I love the gentle atmosphere created by the misty peachy shades and the contrasting vibrant flowers. The two figures are so interesting and pretty. You are still attracted to apricots and soft blues quite a bit as I noticed it in your other artworks. I loved reading your story here and how you overcame all obstacles to paint this very lovely picture.v/f

E Guipponi, thank you again so very much. This was my very first painting! My teacher for some reason made me draw it in charcoal. (I can't draw.) So underneath there's a big mess. lol Your thoughtful comments are greatly appreciated.

Georgie - I saw my mistake in spelling after hitting comment. Mea culpa. :D I'm furious people steal anything of anyone else's. We lived in Saudi Arabia - left hand cut off first time around. I like their style. No theives there!
