Artist's Description

This works measures 36"x 48". It is an acrylic - modeling paste painting done on canvas. I worked over 3 dozens of preliminaries such as drawings and acrylic paintings on paper. It helped me visualized a sequence of color and atmospheric transformations until I finally came up with a satisfying image. The standing female figure symbolizes the Taino woman and the culture that perished after the invasion of the Spaniards and other Europeans who followed and transformed the Indians way of living.
