This painting makes me happy!! The colors are really fun and, like his other pieces I own, expertly painted. I want to live in this cottage and walk into the ocean. Ordered it on canvas - well executed. Thank you for the smiles!
Artist's Description
A perfect specimen of a Pink Dogwood Blossom (Cornus Florida Rubra) against a fabulous blue sky, March 2012, at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia -- part of the University of Georgia in Athens, GA -- and we hadn't even left the parking lot yet!!!
Dogwood trees are rarely used for lumber today. Dogwoods are much more commonly used for landscaping now and account for 10 percent of trees sold in retail nurseries. Blooming in the spring around the same time as azaleas, dogwood trees add a burst of color to the landscape. Rubra is the generic term for the pink flowering dogwood, however, the color of the pink blossom varies greatly from plant to plant.

Becky, thank you so much! I like to see the light come thru the flower and "light it up", so often Iget the sky regardless, but i, too, love a clear sky as a background and use it whenever i can---it ads another dimension of color as well. Thanks again.
