"Number 1, 1950 (Lavender Mist)" was painted by Jackson Pollock in 1950. This is an "up close" photograph of the painting to show Pollock's name or signature on the bottom near the left corner of the work. A photograph of the full painting precedes this one in my gallery and can be accessed by clicking on the above "PREV" (for "Previous"). The painting, which is made with oil, enamel and aluminum on canvas, was photographed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

As a longtime resident of Washington, DC, a lot of my photographs are of this area, and I enjoy writing in the description something about the shot -- it could be a short statement about an equestrian statue in the middle of a park, or a more intimate tale of the mausoleum where Abraham Lincoln's son, Willie, was entombed for the remaining three years of Lincoln's presidency after the boy's death.
