This painting was done with artist's-grade colored pencil on archival paper. The subjects were rendered from my photos and sketches done near a reservoir in west-central Montana. The landscape was altered to convey the feeling of droughty conditions of areas of Montana during late summer.

Gina Gahagan, a Montana native, is a Nature Illustrator and Artist specializing in fine art paintings and illustrations of birds, botanicals and other subjects from the natural world. She creates her pieces both for art's sake and the sake of illustrating the remarkable beauty of the world around us. She has participated in many artist's shows and sales in Montana, produced commissioned works, and has created logos and intrepretive displays for natural resource and conservation organizations.
