It is said, that In the beginning there was light, and the rest followed.

In the beginning of the wine making process there is the Press and eventually the pressed juice makes it to the Barrel. This drawing depicts these two vital components in the wine making process, and in particular represents the hand press my family still uses to process our grapes for our private annual vintage.

After squeezing` the ripened juice from the grape stems and skins, we carefully pour the liquid into the barrel. And in the barrel it sits, for nearly a year, transferring its own unique characteristic nuance onto the wine itself.

I have always been a pencil artist. From my Mom's recollection I always had a pencil in my hand and given the opportunity I would be drawing. "And sometimes it was on paper!" she added with a smile. My Mom always supported my artwork even when it meant cleaning up up my household Graffiti. Growing up my artist life came pretty easy. I was never challenged early on as an artist by my student peers. I was the "go-to" kid in whatever class in Grade School I was in. When Arts and Crafts happened in my class the kids, one at a time, would come over to my desk and ask (sometimes begged) for my help with the project. Even if it was coloring they thought I could help them stay in the lines better. It wasn't until Jr High when I finally able...
