Railways immediately collaborated with telegraphy to organize their rolling stock, prevent delays and accidents. Telegraph lines followed the path of the railroad tracks because they had already established right of way. Image shows a telegrapher in a moving car on the Lehigh Valley Railroad. Ca. 1870.
