The model approached the artists in the studio and asked us if it a reclining pose was alright for the long pose. After all, she had already been modeling for six hours. While she was coming up with this pose I mentioned that it reminded me of Modigliani paintings. Someone else said his work has been his inspiration lately. It also became my own that evening. You can see the date in the upper right corner.

I was born and raised in Mexico City at a time of political and cultural reawakening. As a child, my teachers would take us to see Rivera's, Siqueiros's Orozco's murals as well as Tamayo's paintings. I was also enchanted by the works of Frida Kalho and Remedios Varo and was exposed to the astonishing beauty of the works of Meso-American artists and craftsmen. As an adult, I was transported when I first saw Hiroshige's wood cuts, from there I explored Asian art. Also, I resonated with the color and style of Maxfield Parrish. I attended the Woodstock School of Art in Woodstock, NY where I studied Structured Drawing and Painting.
