Our tote bags are made from soft, durable, poly-poplin fabric and include a 1" black strap for easy carrying on your shoulder.   All seams are double-stitched for added durability.   Each tote bag is machine-washable in cold water and is printed on both sides using the same image.

Artist's Description

After Gainsborough, famous for "Blue Boy", this piece reflects on the absence of images in art history books and museums that show people of color, unless they are in included as slaves or servants and not the centerpiece of the artworks. This is changing, but the images that are getting notice are not always considered great improvement over the lack.

Joyce Owens Biography Owens recently exhibited her work in Turin, Italy and has been included in the Arts In Embassies Program in Stockholm, Sweden, Mbabane, Swaziland, NATO, in Brussels, Belgium, Monrovia, Liberia and Guyana. The traveling exhibition, "Chicago Artists Interpret Shakespeare: As They Like It" opens Oct. 1, 2016 at the Fourth Presbyterian Church on Michigan Ave. in Chicago, IL., and has been presented at the Beverly Arts Center in Chicago, Carthage College in Wisconsin and Bowling Green University in Ohio. Her work and other artists were also included in a documentary on Shakespeare that was featured on public television. She has had numerous solo exhibitions, recently at the South Side Community Art Center in Chicago...
