I fell in love with this photo the day that Jan posted it. The cards are beautiful, frame able for a small space. I like that they have plenty of room for writing or doodling inside.

Another photo from a series I took at an old mining, ghost town east of Phoenix at the base of the Superstition Mountains.
This old machine was under an exposed part of an old building but the afternoon sun found it and brought the colors to life.
In it's life it probably saw a lot of use but now sits neglected in the desert.
I've always been interested in art but had done little more than sketch all my life...and even then I drew mostly just cartoony, line drawings. A few years ago, I decided to take a number of computer art courses at a nearby community college. I met an artist in one of those classes who became a friend and he encouraged me to look into Fine Art classes at the same school. It turns out they have a great Fine Art program teaching traditional techniques of color theory, design, drawing, life drawing/anatomy, oil painting, photography and more. I've learned so much (knowing I still have a LOT to learn) and after having nearly completed a Fine Art and Digital Illustration degree I now have a little more confidence to begin to present...

Rust can be beautiful! Jephyr, this is just so interesting. I love the way the image changes as you follow the light around the edge of the gear. And the shadow of yet another piece of machinery kind of gives this a 'not so lonesome' look...there are other rusting relics nearby. A great shot!
Jephyr Art replied:
Thank you so much Joy! That old machine/cog was indeed surrounded by other rusting relics ( I like that phrase! : ). It's great to get feedback and know someone really took time to analyze the image! Thank you again : )
