Absolutely loved my print. The depth and details are spectacular and the quality of the print is fantastic. I framed this in a white frame and didn't have the exact size handy so kept the lower space intentionally open. I love how it came out.

I love this print! Her dress is so pretty and victorian and I can daydream that this is me in another lifetime , contemplating life while visiting the sea

I bought this for a friend who lived in France for many years. Now that she is back in the states she misses France her favorite country. When I spoke with her on the phone she absolutely loved it. It showed all the places she lived or visited. She loved that it had an antique flair. She is getting it framed when she can. This my gift for her to bring up her spirits. She has stage 4 cancer. We live in 2 different cities & are comrades & would do anything for each other. When I saw it in the website I knew I had to buy it. Great work. A big thank you for your talent & putting out there to buy your beautiful map!!!

Just exactly what I was looking for. Next time I’m in SFO, I’ll be sure to wear flowers in my hair! Thank you so much for bringing back all those memories.

Artist's Description
Saint Mary by -the-Sea, the summer retreat house of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chestnut Hill, Pennnsylvania, has stood, for over a century, in the quiet landscape of Cape May Point, at the tip of the New Jersey Coast. In 1889, the history of Saint Mary by-the-Sea began when the Shoreham Hotel of Cape May Point, once touted as "one of America's foremost hotels" was built. After various transitions over the years, the Sisters of Saint Joseph purchased the property in 1909. Crosses were added to the roof, the ballroom became the chapel, and the sisters came for retreat and vacation.
Today, Saint Mary by-the-sea, is a retreat house that provides opportunities for annual retreat for the members of the Congregation and others who desire a similar retreat experience. The nuns will tell you it's miraculous that their 116 year old St. Mary-by-the-Sea retreat still survives the wrath of the aggressive Atlantic Ocean. The storm-tossed high dunes are at their back door, at the...
About Carolyn Derstine
Nature has always played a significant role in my life. On walks with my dad when I was a child, I was taught to notice the world around me and appreciate the wonder of nature and all of God's creation. To this day, being out in nature is balm for my soul and necessary for my well-being. When I took up photography, I suddenly had a way to express my joy in nature by preserving the wonder I see, and then being able to share it with others. While I initially did nature and especially macro (close-up) photography, my interests have expanded into photography from travels, scenes of local interest, historic buildings, and basically any interesting image I happen to come across! Since I have taken up photography, my enjoyment of the...

Beauty and peace escapes from St Mary's By the Sea. Unlike so many other structures she has a roof design that may have helped her thru the 'canes and nor'easter's she's withstood. While in Florida an octagon shaped house was of interest that it was built to withstand hurricane's. This place just has so much love within her walls....
Carolyn Derstine replied:
It is amazing it has withstood the elements for so long. Maybe the roof design does help. :) Thanks you visit and comments, Joyce!
